A ramshackle log cabin nestled just of the Lacy Fern Path at the beginning of the Whisper Forest. The chinks between the logs are so big that they have been stuffed with slabs of moss and chunks of sod. In the center of the cabin is a wooden table to which a wooden chair is drawn. Near the wall is a blackened old wood stove, with a large oven beneath the cooktop.
This is where Opal Bear lives and bakes her life away. Before the sun has a chance to creep through the forest and wake the other creatures Opal is up and raring to bake a batch of barley bran biscuits. First thing every morning, wearing fuzzy floppy slippers that are so dusted with flour that she leaves white footprints wherever she goes, Opal stokes the wood stove with lengths of pine and poplar heating the oven to the right baking temperature.
